WeSMA Cultural Evening – Heritage & Harmony Celebrations - 25th April 2026

The Western Sydney Malayalee Association (WeSMA) successfully hosted its Heritage & Harmony Celebrations on 25 April 2026 at the Redgum Function Centre, Wentworthville. The event brought together families and friends for an evening that beautifully reflected unity, culture, and shared identity.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as it embraced the spirit of Vishu, Easter, and Id, representing the Hindu, Christian, and Muslim communities within WeSMA. The event also coincided with ANZAC Day, allowing the community to collectively honour the sacrifices of the ANZAC soldiers and all service members who contributed to Australia’s peace and freedom. The blend of celebration and remembrance truly embodied the values of Heritage and Harmony.

The evening featured a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the talents of WeSMA’s own members. Performances included:

  • Kuchipudi dance by Natyokthi

  • Ghoomar by the tiny tots of Nadanam Dance School

  • Anarkali dance by the senior girls of Nadanam Dance School

  • A series of Malayalam, Hindi, and English songs, performed by Cathu, Justin, Binesh, Anil, Anand Antony, Rajan Chandy, Deepak, and Lijo

  • A lively DJ segment by Benzir, bringing the evening to an energetic close.

Each performance added colour and warmth to the celebration, reflecting the cultural richness of the Malayalee community in Western Sydney.

The event also highlighted the strength of community participation, with volunteers, performers, parents, and trainers contributing to the programme's smooth execution. Their dedication helped create an atmosphere of joy, togetherness, and cultural pride.

As WeSMA celebrated Vishu, Easter, Id, and ANZAC Day under one roof, the gathering stood as a reminder of the community’s commitment to inclusiveness and mutual respect. The evening reinforced the values that define WeSMA — unity in diversity, cultural continuity, and collective celebration.

We thank everyone, including the sponsors, who attended and helped make the Heritage & Harmony Celebrations a memorable success. The spirit of togetherness shared on this special evening will continue to inspire our community in the months ahead.
